Career as a Copywriter

Copywriters are men and women who create fresh written content for advertising, marketing and descriptive texts.

Copywriters can write more creative text, like ad jingles, taglines, and other creative copy, or more research-based copy, like a job description on a website. Copywriters should know how to write for various mediums, such as print, web, radio and television. Copywriters work with editors to determine tone and brainstorm ideas, and may work with a designer or art director for advertising.

Copywriters might work for a company or work as a freelancer. They are hired based on their ability to create compelling text that draws readers in, conveys a certain message or entertains. Copy writing involves providing words which are read or heard in advertisements. This may include slogans or jingles or detailed text for catalogues, brochures, leaflets and journals. Copy writing also takes the form of scripts for television and film commercial advertisement.

The purpose of content writing is to entertain and entice the online audiences so they stay longer on websites and engage with the brand.

Content Writing
Content writing means composing valuable content to be delivered with a specific purpose, like business, marketing, commercial affairs, etc. Often, content writing is used to attract potential customers and educate them about products and services of a brand. This can be done by using blogs, articles, press releases, etc.

Copywriting
Copywriting is the secret ingredient of content writing.
Copywriting means creating compelling and high-valued content that purely aims at pitching your brand. The ultimate objective of copywriting is to sell an idea, unlike content writing where you do not aim to sell but to help the audience understand your brand and generate interest.

Courses
There are two types of writing training: formal and informal. Formal training includes completing a degree program at the undergraduate or graduate level. Some writers choose either an associate degree in English or a bachelor’s degree in English with an emphasis in writing or creative writing, while others may choose a journalism degree. Beyond attending a traditional degree program, writers need to write.

You do not need any specific qualification in order to be a copywriter. However, the world of advertising is fiercely competitive and most agencies ask for a graduate degree in humanities, liberal art or mass communication. The selection process always includes writing a copy.
