There are 3 ways to become pilot after 12th
in India
- Join in a Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) approved flying school and complete your Private Pilot License(PPL) / Commercial Pilot License (CPL) and join as a pilot in an airline.
- Complete your Bachelors in Aeronautical Engineering and then go through the above mentioned way.
- Apply for exams like National Defence Academy (NDA) and become a government trained pilot with free of cost training.
Eligibility
- You should have completed the 10+2 years of education with physics, chemistry, maths as your major subjects.
- You must have scored 50 percentage of marks in above mentioned education
- Minimum Age: 18 years
- Excellent English language skills
- Take care of your eye and body. Physical fitness is utmost important throughout your career.

Cost of becoming a Pilot
The cost to become a commercial pilot in India
is quite high, somewhere around 15 to 20 lakh Indian Rupees. However, there is
an alternative way to become a pilot in India without paying such high fees,
and that is by joining the Indian Defense Forces.

Salaries
of IAF pilots are commensurate with those stipulated by wage boards of the
Ministry of Defense and the Indian Armed Forces.
They
vary according to rank and are not dependent upon the type of aircraft flown.
Commercial Airlines
Salaries
are same for passenger and freighter pilots
Pilots
beginning as First Officers usually draw between ₹80,000 to ₹150,000 per
month on commercial airlines of India.
Flight
commanders are paid salaries in excess of ₹350,000.
Private pilots
These
include pilots of helicopters, small aircraft owned by organizations or
individuals.
